BuildCard details

The Commander

Indestructible

As long as your devotion to green is less than five, Nylea isn't a creature. (Each {G} in the mana costs of permanents you control counts toward your devotion to green.)

Other creatures you control have trample.

{3}{G}: Target creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn.

Guide

Gameplan

Flood the board with green creatures, give them all trample via Nylea, and turn sideways for lethal damage. Nylea is a hard-to-kill enchantment that doubles as a mana sink with her +2/+2 pump, letting you grind through chump blockers and close games with big attacks. Ramp early, deploy threats, and push devotion to flip Nylea into an indestructible beater herself.

Strengths

  • Indestructible commander dodges most removal and board wipes
  • Built-in trample means tokens and fatties can't be chumped down
  • Repeatable pump ability is a reliable mana sink in long games
  • Mono-green gives access to the format's best ramp and consistency

Weaknesses

  • No card advantage or protection from the command zone
  • Vulnerable to exile, -X/-X, and tuck effects despite indestructibility
  • Devotion requirement means Nylea is often just an enchantment, not a body
  • Single-color removal suite is thin against artifacts and enchantments
  • Lacks evasion beyond trample and can be walled by fliers or high toughness

Key Cards

  • Craterhoof Behemoth — With trample already granted, its overrun effect is pure lethal across the board.
  • Pathbreaker Ibex — Turns your biggest creature into a repeatable, trample-enabled overrun finisher.
  • Cathars' Crusade — Snowballs every creature you play into a massive trampling army.
  • Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx — Explosive devotion-based ramp that also helps flip Nylea into a creature.
  • Doubling Season — Doubles token output and counters, supercharging both go-wide and stompy plans.
  • Heroic Intervention — Cheap protection that shields your whole board from wraths and removal.

Upgrade Path

Lean into a critical mass of overrun effects (Craterhoof, Pathbreaker Ibex, End-Raze Forerunners) and ramp like Cultivate, Sol Ring, and mana dorks to deploy them ahead of schedule. Add protection (Heroic Intervention, Tamiyo's Safekeeping) and card draw engines (Beast Whisperer, Guardian Project, Sylvan Library) to fix the deck's weakest axes. For higher power, incorporate fast mana and a green stax/combo angle or hatebears to slow opponents while you build the lethal board.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Alpha strike with a trampling board backed by Craterhoof or Pathbreaker Ibex
  • ▸Commander damage from an indestructible, pumped-up Nylea once devotion is met
  • ▸Overwhelming attacks where trample turns chump blocks into wasted bodies

Archetypes

  • Stompy/Big Creatures — Nylea's trample and pump turn oversized green fatties into unblockable threats.
  • Tokens/Go-Wide — Granting trample to a swarm lets even small tokens push damage through blockers.
  • +1/+1 Counters — Green counter synergies stack with trample for efficient, scaling beatdown.
  • Devotion Ramp — Heavy green pips power Nykthos and flip Nylea into an indestructible attacker.
