BuildCard details

The Commander

Vigilance

If one or more creature tokens would be created under your control, three times that many of those tokens are created instead.

When Ojer Taq dies, return it to the battlefield tapped and transformed under its owner's control.

(Transforms from Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation.)

{T}: Add {W}.

{2}{W}, {T}: Transform this land. Activate only if you attacked with three or more creatures this turn and only as a sorcery.

Guide

Gameplan

Ojer Taq triples every creature token you make, so you flood the board fast and convert that into either a wide overwhelming attack or an explosive token-payoff finish. Ramp into the commander by turn 4-5, drop a token engine, and let the multiplier snowball into hundreds of bodies. Even removal is a speed bump since Ojer Taq returns transformed as a land and can flip back after attacking with three creatures.

Strengths

  • Triples all token creation, turning modest generators into game-ending board states
  • Built-in recursion—dies to a land instead of leaving for good
  • Vigilance lets it attack while still blocking and tapping for mana on the back side
  • Mono-white keeps the deck cheap, consistent, and easy to assemble
  • Pairs with countless token payoffs and anthems already strong in white

Weaknesses

  • Board wipes are devastating since the whole strategy is creatures
  • Mono-white means weak card draw and no interaction beyond removal/taxes
  • Slow without a token engine actually on the battlefield
  • Token doubling is symmetrical exposure to sweepers, Pacifism effects, and edicts
  • Can struggle to break through stalled boards without an alpha-strike enabler

Key Cards

  • Anointed Procession — Stacks multiplicatively with Ojer Taq for nine-times token creation per effect.
  • Elspeth, Sun's Champion — Makes three 1/1s that become nine, and her ultimate is a near-instant kill at scale.
  • Heliod, Sun-Crowned — Grants lifegain and lets you grind value while turning tokens into a lifelink army.
  • Cathars' Crusade — Every tripled token enters and pumps your whole board into lethal counters fast.
  • Skullclamp — Solves white's card draw by sacrificing 1/1 tokens for two cards apiece.
  • Divine Visitation — Turns every token into a 4/4 flying angel, multiplied by Ojer Taq for a brutal sky armada.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and ramp (Sol Ring, Smothering Tithe, mana rocks) to deploy Ojer Taq and a token engine ahead of curve, then prioritize multiplicative payoffs like Anointed Procession and Mondrak, Glory Dominus. Shore up the sweeper weakness with protection (Teferi's Protection, Flawless Maneuver) and add Skullclamp/Welcoming Vampire for card advantage. Tighten the curve with cheap token generators and an aristocrats package (Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Ashnod's Altar) for a resilient, non-combat kill.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Alpha strike with a massive tripled board, often boosted by anthems or Cathars' Crusade
  • ▸Drain the table via aristocrats outlets like Blood Artist multiplied across dozens of dying tokens
  • ▸Elspeth ultimate or Divine Visitation flyers crashing in for unblockable damage
  • ▸Overwhelm through combat width that opponents simply cannot block profitably

Archetypes

  • Tokens — The commander's core ability triples every token, making go-wide the default plan.
  • Aristocrats — Endless tripled tokens fuel sacrifice outlets, Skullclamp, and drain effects.
  • Anthems/Go-Wide Aggro — Pile on anthem and counter effects to swing the tripled army for lethal combat damage.
  • Combo — Token-payoff loops and population engines can generate near-infinite bodies or counters.
