BuildCard details

The Commander

Whenever one or more artifact creatures you control deal combat damage to a player, you get {E}{E} (two energy counters).

At the beginning of your end step, you may pay one or more {E}. If you do, create an X/X colorless Vehicle artifact token named Nalaar Aetherjet with flying and crew 2, where X is the amount of {E} paid this way.

Guide

Gameplan

Build a wide board of artifact creatures, hit players in combat to bank energy, then dump that energy on your end step into one or more flying Nalaar Aetherjet Vehicles that snowball into evasive threats. You lean on cheap artifact creatures and energy producers early, protect Pia, and convert your accumulated {E} into an aerial army that closes games fast.

Strengths

  • Generates a self-perpetuating energy/Vehicle engine that produces a new flier each turn at no card cost
  • Temur colors give access to artifact ramp, card draw, and the strongest energy support cards
  • Vehicles dodge sorcery-speed removal and sweepers when uncrewed, giving resilience
  • Scales well into wide artifact-token strategies and go-tall flying beatdown

Weaknesses

  • Energy only accumulates if your artifact creatures connect, so a clogged board stalls the engine
  • Aetherjets need crew 2 and Pia herself isn't an artifact creature, so you must build for fuel
  • Vehicles are vulnerable to artifact removal and board wipes once crewed
  • No built-in card advantage on the commander; the deck can run out of gas if it stalls

Key Cards

  • Aetherworks Marvel — Turns banked energy directly into free spells, exploding Pia's energy surplus into bombs.
  • Whirler Virtuoso — Spends energy to make Thopter tokens, fueling both your attack base and crew for Aetherjets.
  • Aether Hub — Color-fixing land that also banks a starting energy counter to prime the engine.
  • Reckless Fireweaver — Pings each opponent whenever an artifact enters, turning Vehicle and token production into reach damage.
  • Skysovereign, Consul Flagship — A self-sufficient flying Vehicle that pings creatures or planeswalkers and rewards your Vehicle theme.
  • Greasefang style crew payoffs aside, Smuggler's Copter — Cheap evasive Vehicle that loots and is trivial to crew, smoothing draws while attacking.

Upgrade Path

Tighten the energy base with Aether Hub, Servant of the Conduit, Voltaic Servant, and Harnessed Lightning so Pia always has fuel, then add Vehicle and artifact payoffs like Smuggler's Copter, Skysovereign, and Reckless Fireweaver. Add fast artifact ramp (Sol Ring, Signets, Talismans) and card advantage (The Antiquities War, Inspiring Statuary) to avoid running dry, and consider an artifact-token finisher such as Marionette Master or Pia's own swarm plus an overrun effect like Craterhoof or Akroma's Will for explosive closes.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Beat down with an ever-growing fleet of flying Nalaar Aetherjets and crewed Vehicles
  • ▸Wide artifact-token swarm pumped by anthems crashing in for lethal
  • ▸Aristocrat/ping damage from cards like Reckless Fireweaver and Marionette Master as artifacts flood the board
  • ▸Aetherworks Marvel into a haymaker bomb that ends the game

Archetypes

  • Energy — Pia banks energy on combat and spends it for Vehicles, anchoring a dedicated Kaladesh energy engine.
  • Vehicles — Her end-step trigger literally manufactures Vehicle tokens, supported by crew enablers and Vehicle payoffs.
  • Artifact Tokens / Go-Wide — Cheap artifact creatures and Thopter makers both bank energy and crew your fliers for an aggressive board.
  • Artifact Aggro — The deck applies steady flying pressure backed by direct-damage and combat-damage artifact synergies.
