The Commander

Whenever Pianna attacks, attacking creatures get +1/+1 until end of turn.

Guide

Gameplan

Pianna is a mono-white go-wide aggro commander: flood the board with creatures and tokens, then attack so everyone gets +1/+1 to push decisive combat damage. Early turns build a wide board and ramp; mid-game you swing with the team and finish with overruns or evasive alpha strikes.

Strengths

  • Cheap (3 mana) and immediately impactful, turning every alpha strike into a free anthem
  • Mono-white token strategies are well-supported and consistent
  • Rewards going wide, which already wins games on its own
  • Low mana value makes recasting after removal painless

Weaknesses

  • Bonus only applies when Pianna attacks, so removal or a chump block negates the buff for that turn
  • Mono-white struggles with card advantage and lacks ramp/recursion of other colors
  • Board wipes are devastating to a go-wide plan
  • No built-in evasion or protection makes the team easy to gum up with blockers

Upgrade Path

Add anthem and doubling effects (Anointed Procession, Intangible Virtue, Cathars' Crusade) plus mass token generators to maximize the attack trigger. Shore up white's weaknesses with card advantage (Skullclamp, Welcoming Vampire, Smothering Tithe) and evasion or finishers like Craterhoof-style stampede effects (Overwhelming Stampede). Include protection from board wipes via Heroic Intervention's white analogs like Flawless Maneuver and Teferi's Protection to keep your board intact.
