Gameplan
Rosheen ramps hard into massive X spells, tapping for four colorless mana that can only fuel costs. You aim to deploy X-cost ramp, burn, fight spells, and creatures that scale into the late game, then close with one or two backbreaking giant X spells. Turn to turn you build mana rocks and dorks, then pour everything into an X spell that ends the table.
Strengths
- Effectively reduces every X spell by four generic mana, enabling absurd early Xs
- Gruul has deep access to X burn, X ramp, and hydra payoffs
- Cheap, recastable commander that immediately advances your plan
- Naturally scales into the late game when other decks run out of gas
Weaknesses
- The four mana is locked to costs, so it does nothing for normal spells or removal
- Commander provides no card advantage or protection
- Vulnerable to spot removal mid-cast and to counterspells negating your big X spell

Lean into uncounterable finishers (Banefire, Comet Storm) and protection like Heroic Intervention and Veil of Summer, and include Birgi or Jeska's Will-style burst to chain multiple X spells. Tighten the manabase with fast rocks and dorks so you can hold up an explosive X turn earlier than the table expects.
