BuildCard details

The Commander

Whenever you cast a creature spell with mana value 5 or greater, that creature enters with X additional +1/+1 counters on it, where X is its mana value minus 4.

Creatures you control with three or more +1/+1 counters on them have haste.

{T}: Add {G}.

Guide

Gameplan

Ramp hard into expensive creatures, then cast big bombs that arrive even bigger and immediately swing thanks to built-in haste. Runadi turns every 5+ mana creature into a beefier, faster threat, so you flood the board with hasty fatties and beat down before opponents stabilize.

Strengths

  • Free +1/+1 counters and haste on big creatures with zero extra investment
  • Mono-green gives best-in-class ramp to deploy bombs early
  • Self-contained mana dork to accelerate the curve
  • Synergizes with counter-matters payoffs and proliferate

Weaknesses

  • Mono-green struggles with interaction, removal, and answering combo decks
  • Heavily creature-reliant, so board wipes are devastating
  • Runadi himself is fragile at 3 mana and easily removed
  • No evasion baseline, so wide blockers can stall the ground

Key Cards

  • Apex Devastator — Cascades four times and enters huge with counters and haste, often ending the game on arrival.
  • Hydra Omnivore — Massive with counters, hits every opponent at once, and swings immediately with haste.
  • Cultivate — Cheap ramp and fixing that bridges you to your expensive payoffs quickly.
  • Hardened Scales — Doubles down on Runadi's counter generation for even larger hasty threats.
  • Craterhoof Behemoth — Enters with extra counters and haste for an immediate overrun finish.
  • Greater Good — Sacrifice your giant creatures for huge card draw to refuel after a wipe.

Upgrade Path

Add more counter doublers (Doubling Season, Branching Evolution) and proliferate effects to compound Runadi's bonus. Improve interaction with green's best answers like Beast Within, Heroic Intervention, and Veil of Summer, and tighten ramp with fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Carpet of Flowers) to deploy bombs a turn earlier. Cap it with a reliable overrun package and trample sources so your hasty army actually closes.

  • Hydras/X-spells — Big creature spells get even larger and gain haste, accelerating your beatdown clock.
