BuildCard details

The Commander

Reveal your hand: If you have seven or more land cards in your hand, flip Sasaya.

Whenever a land you control is tapped for mana, add an additional one mana of any type that land produced for each other land you control with the same name as it.

Guide

Gameplan

Flood your hand with lands, flip Sasaya into Sasaya's Essence, then tap a high-count basic land for explosive mana that gets multiplied by every other copy you control. Use that mana surge to power giant X-spells, overrun effects, or land-based payoffs that end the game.

Strengths

  • Generates absurd amounts of mana once flipped, often hundreds with enough matching basics
  • Mono-green ramp and land tutoring make assembling lands trivial
  • Cheap, easy-to-flip three-drop commander that snowballs fast

Weaknesses

  • Useless before flipping; needs seven+ lands in hand which can mean a clunky, land-heavy hand
  • Mana doesn't help without big payoff spells to dump it into
  • Vulnerable to land destruction, Armageddon effects, and Blood Moon/nonbasic hate
  • Mono-green means no interaction, counterspells, or removal beyond fight/Beast Within

Key Cards

  • Reshape the Earth — Tutors ten lands directly to the battlefield, instantly stacking matching basics for Sasaya's multiplier.
  • Boundless Realm — Puts every basic from your library onto the battlefield, maximizing same-name land counts.
  • Crop Rotation — Cheap toolbox land tutor that helps assemble lands and fetch utility threats.
  • Helix Pinnacle — A near-uncounterable mana sink that turns Sasaya's mountain of mana into an instant win.
  • Genesis Wave — Dumps your library onto the battlefield for huge X, ideal sink for explosive green mana.
  • Khalni Gem — Returns lands to hand to help re-trigger the seven-land flip if you get reset.
  • Walking Atlas — Lets you bounce and replay lands or shuffle hand counts to control the flip.

Upgrade Path

Lean into duplicate basics by playing as many copies of one or two basic land types as possible (Snow-Covered if useful) and pack land-into-play ramp like Scapeshift, Reshape the Earth, and Boundless Realm. Add protection for your flipped state and lands—Heroic Intervention, Greater Good for card flow, and fast mana like Mana Crypt and Cradle/Nykthos to flip earlier. Tighten the payoff suite around an instant-win mana sink (Helix Pinnacle) plus Finale of Devastation or Craterhoof Behemoth so your explosive turn closes the game immediately.
