Drop Savanti early, attack each turn to stack +1/+1 counters and refill your hand with explosive card draw while paying the life cost. Convert that card advantage into a grindy mono-black engine that out-resources the table, then close with a big tramping commander or a black finisher. Lifegain and life-as-resource payoffs turn the drawback into an asset.
Add fast mana (Dark Ritual, Mana Crypt, Jet Medallion) to deploy Savanti early and keep gas flowing, plus lifegain like Whip of Erebos and Pontiff of Blight effects to survive the escalating life loss.
