BuildCard details

The Commander

Partner with Trynn, Champion of Freedom (When this creature enters, target player may put Trynn into their hand from their library, then shuffle.)

Menace

Sacrifice a Human: Put a +1/+1 counter on Silvar. It gains indestructible until end of turn.

Guide

Gameplan

Build a board of Human tokens (often via Trynn or token generators), then sacrifice them to Silvar to pump it and make it indestructible for safe, evasive Voltron beats with menace. You apply early pressure with Humans while Silvar threatens 21 commander damage; sac fodder doubles as aristocrat fuel and protection through removal.

Strengths

  • Built-in repeatable indestructible makes Silvar extremely resilient to removal and combat
  • Menace plus +1/+1 counters lets it close games fast as a commander-damage threat
  • Partner access to Trynn gives a second commander and a steady stream of Human tokens
  • Sacrifice synergy pairs naturally with aristocrat payoffs and drain effects

Weaknesses

  • Indestructible doesn't stop exile, bounce, or -X/-X effects
  • Heavily reliant on a constant supply of Humans to function
  • Voltron plan loses tempo to a single board wipe of your token base
  • Five mana and red-black has weak card draw and no built-in card advantage on Silvar itself

Key Cards

  • Trynn, Champion of Freedom — Its partner that pumps out 1/1 Human tokens at end step, fueling Silvar's sacrifice ability.
  • Skullclamp — Turns each sacrificed or dying Human token into two cards, solving the deck's card-advantage problem.
  • Anointed Procession — Doubles your Human token output, keeping Silvar fed and accelerating the board.
  • Blade of the Bloodchief — Stacks counters on Silvar every time a creature dies, supercharging the Voltron clock.
  • Goldnight Commander — Each Human entering pumps your whole board, turning go-wide tokens into a lethal swing.
  • Zulaport Cutthroat — Converts every sacrificed Human into incremental life drain for an alternate win path.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana (Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Fellwar Stone) and tutors like Demonic Tutor to find Skullclamp or your best anthem more consistently. Lean into a token-doubler and aristocrat package so each sacrifice generates card advantage and drain, then add protection like Lightning Greaves and evasion enablers so Silvar reliably connects.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Commander damage from a pumped, indestructible, menace-having Silvar
  • ▸Going wide with Human tokens and an Anthem/Goldnight Commander to swing for lethal
  • ▸Aristocrat drain via Zulaport Cutthroat, Blood Artist, and Bastion of Remembrance

Archetypes

  • Voltron — Silvar's repeatable indestructible, menace, and counters make it a hard-to-kill commander-damage threat.
  • Tokens — Trynn floods the board with Humans that act as both attackers and Silvar fuel.
  • Aristocrats — Sacrificing Humans pairs with drain and death-trigger payoffs for a sac-based engine.
