BuildCard details

The Commander

This spell costs {1} less to cast for each creature in your party.

{2/U}{2/B}{2/R}{2/G}: Look at the top six cards of your library. You may reveal up to two Cleric, Rogue, Warrior, Wizard, and/or Ally cards from among them and put them into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Guide

Gameplan

Assemble a full party (Cleric, Rogue, Warrior, Wizard) to slash Tazri's cost, then use her hybrid-mana activated ability as a repeatable engine to dig for class creatures and Allies, snowballing into a wide, synergistic board. You win by going tall with Ally/party payoffs and overwhelming opponents with creature value or combo lines that five colors enable.

Strengths

  • Access to all five colors means best-in-class removal, ramp, tutors, and combo pieces
  • Built-in card advantage engine that needs no other cards to function
  • Party tribal and Ally synergies create explosive board states
  • Hybrid Phyrexian-style {2/X} costs let you activate her even when colors are tight

Weaknesses

  • Activated ability is mana-hungry and slow without ramp or cost reducers
  • Heavily creature-dependent, so wraths and targeted removal hit hard
  • Needs a real party to be efficiently cast; otherwise she's a clunky 5-drop
  • Five-color manabase is expensive to build well and prone to color screw

Key Cards

  • Tazri, Beacon of Unity — Your engine and party payoff—cost reduction and card draw revolve around filling out class types.
  • General Tazri — Tutors any Ally on cast and ties the Ally subtheme together as a backup commander-quality piece.
  • Coppercoat Vanguard — Anthem-style Ally lord that protects and pumps your tribal board.
  • Tana, the Bloodsower — Cheap Warrior that fills party and snowballs tokens for go-wide pressure.
  • Esper Sentinel — Wizard that fills party while taxing opponents and refilling your hand.
  • Smothering Tithe — Five-color ramp staple to fuel Tazri's expensive activated ability.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and cost reducers (Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Smothering Tithe, Goreclaw-style discounts) so Tazri lands early and her ability fires repeatedly. Tighten the manabase with shocks, fetches, Triomes, and Command Tower, and lean into a focused payoff—either Ally rally combos or party-matters lords—rather than diffuse goodstuff. Finally, slot protection like Heroic Intervention and Teferi's Protection to insulate your creature-centric board from wraths.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Go-wide Ally/party tribal beatdown amplified by lords and anthems
  • ▸Combat damage from a buffed, recursive creature board
  • ▸Ally rally engines (like General Tazri lines) generating overwhelming value or infinite triggers
  • ▸Five-color combo finishes assembled via tutors and Tazri's card selection

Archetypes

  • Party Tribal — Cleric/Rogue/Warrior/Wizard creatures both reduce her cost and trigger party payoffs across the format.
  • Allies — Tazri can dig for Allies and pairs with General Tazri to assemble Ally rally chains.
  • Five-Color Goodstuff/Value — WUBRG identity lets you run the best engines, tutors, and removal while her ability provides steady card flow.
  • Combo — All five colors open consistent combo lines (e.g., infinite Ally triggers or token loops) backed by her tutoring.
