BuildCard details

The Commander

Melee (Whenever this creature attacks, it gets +1/+1 until end of turn for each opponent you attacked this combat.)

Whenever one or more creatures you control with power 7 or greater deal combat damage to a player, untap all creatures you control. If it's the first combat phase of your turn, there is an additional combat phase after this phase.

Guide

Gameplan

Tifa builds wide and tall, pumping creatures past 7 power so combat damage triggers untaps and extra combat phases, then chains attacks to overrun the table. You ramp into beefy threats by turn 4-5, use the Melee bonus and pump effects to clear the 7-power threshold, and snowball repeated combats into lethal damage.

Strengths

  • Generates extra combat phases that translate directly into explosive, often one-shot kills
  • Untapping all creatures means you keep blockers up while swinging out, deterring crackback
  • Naya colors give access to the best ramp, pump, and big-creature payoffs in the format
  • Melee rewards multiplayer aggression, scaling Tifa herself toward the 7-power threshold

Weaknesses

  • Heavily combat-reliant, so board wipes and mass removal set you back hard
  • Needs to reliably hit 7 power, which can be awkward in slower opening hands
  • No built-in evasion or protection on Tifa herself, making her easy to chump or remove
  • Vulnerable to fogs, Settle the Wreckage, and untap-denial that breaks the combat chain

Key Cards

  • Berserkers' Onslaught — Double strike pushes creatures over 7 power and doubles the combat damage that triggers more phases.
  • Aggravated Assault — A second engine for extra combat phases that combos with the untap trigger to chain attacks repeatedly.
  • Xenagos, God of Revels — Doubles a creature's power on attack, instantly clearing the 7-power line and hitting like a truck.
  • Embercleave — Cheap to cast on a wide board, granting double strike and trample to break the threshold and connect.
  • Pathbreaker Ibex — Pumps your whole team by your biggest creature's power, easily lifting multiple creatures past 7.
  • Garruk's Uprising — Trample plus card draw whenever a 4-power creature enters keeps your hand full and damage flowing through blockers.

Upgrade Path

Add reliable ways to push power to 7 and double strike—Berserkers' Onslaught, Xenagos, Embercleave—so the trigger fires every turn. Tighten the mana base with fast ramp (Sol Ring, Birds of Paradise, Sword of the Animist) and add protection like Heroic Intervention and Deflecting Swat to survive removal. For combo finishes, include Aggravated Assault plus mana engines such as Druids' Repository or Bear Umbra to loop combats into a single-turn kill.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Connecting with a 7+ power creature to trigger an extra combat, then swinging for lethal
  • ▸Going infinite with Aggravated Assault and mana ramp like Sword of the Animist or Druids' Repository
  • ▸Overrun effects like Craterhoof Behemoth or Pathbreaker Ibex closing out a wide board
  • ▸Voltron damage from Embercleave or Xenagos pumping a single huge attacker

Archetypes

  • Big Creatures / Stompy — Her ability explicitly rewards 7-power creatures with untaps and extra combats.
  • Extra Combat Combo — Pairing her trigger with Aggravated Assault or mana-infinite combat loops can produce game-ending swings.
  • +1/+1 Counters / Voltron — Counter and Auras pump creatures over the threshold while making Tifa a recurring threat.
  • Aggro Midrange — Naya beaters plus Melee scaling keep early pressure that converts into combat snowballs.
