BuildCard details

The Commander

Lifelink

When Tolsimir enters, create Voja Fenstalker, a legendary 5/5 green and white Wolf creature token with trample.

Whenever a Wolf you control attacks, if Tolsimir attacked this combat, target creature an opponent controls blocks that Wolf this combat if able.

Guide

Gameplan

Drop Tolsimir, immediately add a 5/5 trampling Voja, and start swinging with Wolves while forcing opponents' creatures into bad blocks. You build a wide Wolf/Elf board with Selesnya ramp and anthems, then crash in for big lifelink-fueled, trample-heavy attacks that punish chump blocks via the forced-block ability.

Strengths

  • Free 5/5 Voja token immediately upon casting makes the commander a value engine even before combat
  • Forced-block ability lets you remove key blockers or eat creatures while pushing trample damage
  • Lifelink keeps you safe against aggro and racing decks
  • Selesnya has deep access to ramp, anthems, and token support

Weaknesses

  • Strategy collapses if Tolsimir is removed or kept off the board (board-wipe vulnerable)
  • Forced-block triggers require Tolsimir to attack, putting your commander at risk every combat
  • Wolf tribal support is thin, so the deck leans on generic green-white go-wide tools
  • No card advantage or evasion built in beyond combat math
  • GW lacks interaction for the stack and struggles against combo/control

Key Cards

  • Voja, Jaws of the Conclave — A second Wolf payoff that draws cards and pumps your team based on Elves, synergizing with the tribal angle.
  • Master of the Wild Hunt — Generates a steady stream of Wolf tokens to fuel attacks and forced-block triggers.
  • Craterhoof Behemoth — Turns your wide Wolf and token board into a lethal trampling alpha strike.
  • Skullclamp — Provides badly needed card draw by sacrificing small tokens, fixing the deck's biggest weakness.
  • Beast Whisperer — Refills your hand as you flood the board with creatures.
  • Heroic Intervention — Protects your board and commander from the wraths that otherwise blow you out.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and ramp (Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Smothering Tithe) to deploy Tolsimir ahead of curve, and bolster card draw with Skullclamp, Beast Whisperer, and Guardian Project. Tighten the wincon with Craterhoof Behemoth and Overwhelming Stampede, and add protection like Heroic Intervention, Teferi's Protection, and Flawless Maneuver to survive wraths. Cut weak Wolf filler for efficient anthems and proven Selesnya staples.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Alpha strike with Craterhoof Behemoth or Overrun-style effects through forced bad blocks
  • ▸Grinding lifelink beats while picking off blockers each combat
  • ▸Voja, Jaws of the Conclave card advantage snowballing into an overwhelming board
  • ▸Anthem-pumped Wolf tokens trampling opponents out

Archetypes

  • Tokens — Tolsimir spawns Voja for free and rewards a wide board of attackers.
  • Tribal (Wolves/Elves) — The forced-block ability and Voja synergies reward leaning into Wolf and Elf creatures.
  • Aggro/Stompy — Lifelink plus trample and forced blocks let you race and grind through defenders.
  • Counters/Anthems — Pumping your team makes forced blocks devastating and trample lethal.
