BuildCard details

The Commander

Fear (This creature can't be blocked except by artifact creatures and/or black creatures.)

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may return target Goblin card from your graveyard to your hand.

Guide

Gameplan

Wort, Boggart Auntie commands a Rakdos Goblin tribal deck that grinds out value by recurring a Goblin from your graveyard every upkeep. You flood the board with cheap, disruptive Goblins, then convert them into damage or combo lines while Wort refills your hand to outlast removal-heavy tables. The recursion engine makes you incredibly resilient to board wipes and spot removal.

Strengths

  • Built-in card advantage engine that recurs Goblins turn after turn, making you grindy and hard to deplete
  • Goblins are one of the deepest, cheapest tribes in Magic, so curve and synergy are easy to assemble
  • Access to red and black gives both aggressive haste enablers and powerful removal/recursion
  • Multiple combo backups exist within the tribe (Kiki, Conscripts, Recruiter chains)

Weaknesses

  • Wort's ability only returns Goblins, so non-Goblin support pieces are stranded in the yard
  • Four-mana commander with no immediate board impact; she's slow to start and a removal magnet
  • Vulnerable to board wipes if you overcommit, and the deck leans heavily on the battlefield
  • Fear is mostly irrelevant in multiplayer and Wort dies easily to chump-able combat

Key Cards

  • Goblin Recruiter — Stacks your library with any Goblins you want, and Wort can recur it for repeated tutoring.
  • Goblin Ringleader — Refills your hand with Goblins and is recurrable by Wort for relentless card advantage.
  • Krenko, Mob Boss — Generates an explosive token army that fuels both aggro and sacrifice payoffs.
  • Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker — Combos with Zealous Conscripts or other Goblins for infinite value, and is recurrable if it dies.
  • Conspicuous Snoop — Plays Goblins off the top of your library and can go infinite with Boggart Harbinger / Kiki.
  • Skirk Prospector — Turns your endless Goblin supply into ritual mana to power out big plays or combos.

Upgrade Path

Tighten the curve with the best cheap Goblins (Skirk Prospector, Conspicuous Snoop, Boggart Harbinger) and add explicit combo lines like Kiki-Jiki + Zealous Conscripts and Snoop + Harbinger for fast, resilient wins. Upgrade the mana base with dual lands, fast mana (Sol Ring, Ankh-style rituals), and tutors like Goblin Recruiter/Matron to assemble pieces consistently. Lean into sacrifice payoffs (Goblin Bombardment, Mogg Fanatic) so Wort's recursion converts a stalled board into inevitable damage.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Going wide with Goblin tokens plus an anthem like Coat of Arms or Goblin Chieftain for lethal swings
  • ▸Kiki-Jiki plus Zealous Conscripts (or Conspicuous Snoop loops) for infinite tokens/damage
  • ▸Aristocrats drain via Goblin Bombardment, Mogg Fanatic, or Blood Artist effects
  • ▸Skirk Prospector + Goblin Sharpshooter / Krenko-fueled mass damage

Archetypes

  • Goblin Tribal Aggro — Wort recurs go-wide threats and anthem targets to keep the swarm attacking after wipes.
  • Combo — Recurring key Goblins like Kiki-Jiki, Conscripts, and Snoop enables resilient infinite loops.
  • Aristocrats — Endless Goblins fed by Wort fuel sacrifice outlets and drain effects like Goblin Bombardment.
  • Stax/Disruption — Recurrable disruptive Goblins keep reapplying pressure and locks against opponents.
