
Magecraft — Whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery spell, scry 1. If that spell's mana value is 5 or greater, create a 4/4 blue and red Elemental creature token. If that spell's mana value is 10 or greater, Zaffai deals 10 damage to an opponent chosen at random.
Zaffai turns big-mana instants and sorceries into board presence and reach. You ramp into expensive X-spells and high-MV bombs, triggering magecraft to scry, spawn 4/4 Elementals, and—on MV10+—blast random opponents for 10. Copy effects multiply every trigger, letting one spell make multiple tokens or deal multiple 10-damage hits.
Lean into ramp (Sol Ring, Mana Geyser, Jeska's Will) and copy effects (Twincast, Reverberate, Bonus Round) to maximize triggers per spell. Add cost reducers and free-spell enablers (Birgi, Underworld Breach, Past in Flames) to chain casts, and protect Zaffai with counterspells and Lightning Greaves. Tighten the curve so most payoff spells reliably cross MV5/MV10 thresholds, and add token doublers or Impact Tremors-style payoffs to convert Elementals into faster damage.
