The Commander

Multikicker {W/U}

When Zethi, Arcane Blademaster enters, exile up to X target instant cards from your graveyard, where X is the number of times Zethi was kicked. Put a kick counter on each of them.

Whenever Zethi attacks, copy each exiled card you own with a kick counter on it. You may cast the copies.

Guide

Gameplan

Cast Zethi with multikicker to exile instants from your graveyard, then attack to copy and cast all of them for free every combat. You spend the early game stockpiling cheap, high-value instants in the yard with cantrips and self-mill, then deploy Zethi with several kicks and start chaining copies each attack step for snowballing card advantage and damage.

Strengths

  • Generates massive repeatable value—free copies of your best instants every single attack, no mana required
  • Color identity gives access to the best control tools, counters, removal, and protection spells in the format
  • Scales hard: the more kicks and exiled instants, the more explosive each combat becomes
  • Doubles as a combat threat and an engine, pressuring opponents while drawing cards

Weaknesses

  • Heavily commander-dependent—if Zethi is removed or can't attack, the whole engine stalls
  • Vulnerable to flyers, blockers, and Fog effects that stop attack triggers
  • Multikicker costs make a big Zethi entrance very mana-intensive
  • Slow to set up; needs instants in the graveyard and a clear board before it pays off
  • Recasting Zethi after death is expensive due to commander tax plus kicker

Key Cards

  • Expansion // Explosion — Explosion copied each attack is a free draw-X and damage payoff that can win on its own.
  • Brainstorm — Cheap instant that's great to exile—free repeated card filtering every combat.
  • Cyclonic Rift — A copied overloaded Rift each attack is a devastating, repeatable board reset.
  • Mystic Confluence — Flexible draw/counter/bounce instant that's incredible to copy for free every turn.
  • Finale of Revelation — X-spell instant whose copy refills your hand and can be game-ending late.
  • Lightning Greaves — Haste and protection let Zethi attack the turn it lands and dodge removal.

Upgrade Path

Lean into high-impact instants that scale or copy well (Cyclonic Rift, Mystic Confluence, big X-spells) and trim narrow one-shot answers. Add cheap protection and evasion—Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, Whispersilk Cloak, Aqueous Form—so Zethi reliably connects, plus cantrips and self-mill to load the yard fast. Top-end the mana with rocks and rituals to land a heavily-kicked Zethi early, and include extra-combat or untap effects to fire multiple attack triggers per turn.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Repeatedly copying X-damage instants like Explosion or Comet Storm to burn out the table
  • ▸Snowballing card advantage into a hard lock with copied counters and board wipes
  • ▸Commander combat damage backed by protection and evasion
  • ▸Decking or drawing into a finisher via copied draw instants like Mystic Confluence or Finale of Revelation

Archetypes

  • Spellslinger — Zethi turns your stockpile of instants into free repeatable casts, rewarding an instant-heavy build.
  • Control — UW counters, wraths, and removal in the yard get copied for overwhelming, repeated answers.
  • Combo — Copying X-draw and X-damage instants like Explosion creates lethal, mana-light loops.
  • Voltron — Buffing and protecting Zethi to connect maximizes the attack-trigger engine.
