The Commander

At the beginning of your end step, if a land entered the battlefield under your control this turn and you control a prime number of lands, create Primo, the Indivisible, a legendary 0/0 green and blue Fractal creature token, then put that many +1/+1 counters on it. (2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, and 31 are prime numbers.)

Gameplan

Zimone rewards hitting land drops: each turn you put a land into play and reach a prime number of lands, you create Primo, a Fractal that grows to match your land count. You ramp aggressively with extra land drops and recursion, fueling a massive Primo while drawing cards and developing a value-oriented Simic board, then close with an enormous trampling/unblockable threat.

Strengths

  • Cheap 3-mana commander that immediately generates a scaling board threat
  • Naturally synergizes with the strongest GU staples: ramp, card draw, extra land drops
  • Primo scales to lethal sizes very quickly and remaps to your highest land count
  • Blue gives access to protection, counterspells, and card advantage to defend the plan

Weaknesses

  • Reliant on a single token (Primo) that's vulnerable to removal and board wipes
  • Counting prime lands can be disrupted by land destruction or tax effects on landfall
  • Lacks innate evasion—Primo needs trample or unblockable enablers to connect
  • Wants extra land drops and consistent landfall, which can be inconsistent without setup

  • Burgeoning — Free land drops off opponents' turns help you hit prime counts and ramp explosively.
  • Azusa, Lost but Seeking — Two extra land drops per turn make hitting and re-hitting prime land totals trivial.
  • Crucible of Worlds — Replays lands from your graveyard to guarantee a landfall every turn for Zimone.
  • Rampant Growth — Cheap ramp that can be your land-for-turn substitute to reach prime numbers.
  • Rogue's Passage — Pushes a giant Primo through for one-shot kills.
  • Cyclonic Rift — Premier blue interaction that protects your board and clears blockers for a Primo swing.

Upgrade Path

Add more uncounted extra-land-drop enablers (Oracle of Mul Daya, Mina and Denn, Wayward Swordtooth) and fetchlands plus Crucible-style recursion to guarantee prime triggers. Lean into protection (Heroic Intervention, Lightning Greaves) and evasion (Whispersilk Cloak, trample sources) so Primo reliably closes, and include proliferate effects like Doubling Season or Hardened Scales to amplify it. Tighten the mana with fast ramp (Three Visits, Nature's Lore) to deploy Zimone turn three and start the engine early.
