Cryptolith Rite

{1}{G}

Enchantment

LegalRampRank #750

Creatures you control have "{T}: Add one mana of any color."

Why is this card good?

Cryptolith Rite turns your whole board into a mana engine, and it's one of the best ramp payoffs in any creature-heavy deck. For two mana, every creature you control — including tokens — becomes a mana dork that taps for any color. That's enormous fixing and explosive acceleration rolled into one cheap enchantment. This shines hardest in token decks (Krenko, Jetmir, Ghave, Adeline) where you flood the board fast and suddenly have ten-plus available mana the turn after it lands. It also enables 5-color creature commanders that struggle with fixing, and combos beautifully with untap effects or anything that wants gobs of mana. Aristocrats lists love it too, since tapping creatures doesn't conflict with sacrificing them later. Don't run it if your deck is light on creatures or relies on spells/artifacts for value — it's dead weight without bodies. It's also slow if you can't deploy a board, and summoning sickness means freshly-made tokens won't tap the turn they arrive. Best in go-wide strategies.

    If a creature has multiple mana abilities with a cost of {T}, such as if you control two Cryptolith Rites, you can only activate one of them at a time. Tapping the creature doesn’t produce multiple mana.
