Why is this card good?

Sword of Feast and Famine is arguably the best of the Sword cycle for Commander, and the untap clause is the reason why. Untapping all your lands on combat damage effectively lets you take a second main phase with full mana — cast another spell, activate abilities, or hold up interaction. In ramp-heavy or high-mana-value decks, this is genuinely explosive, and it fuels combo turns or extra equipment shenanigans. The discard is a minor bonus, but stripping a card from a key opponent matters in a long game. Protection from black and green is excellent defensive coverage — it dodges a huge chunk of removal and lets your creature push through Golgari/Abzan blockers unblocked. Wants it: Voltron commanders (Sram, Halvar, Light-Paws), equipment matters decks, and any deck that wants to chain spells across a turn. Mono-green or black ramp decks love the mana doubling. Skip it if: you're not connecting reliably in combat, or you're playing a low-creature spellslinger/control shell where you can't carry the Sword.

You'll untap all lands you control even if the player can't discard a card.

You can tap your lands for mana while the triggered ability is on the stack. However, you'll lose any mana you produce this way if you don't spend it before the end of the current combat damage step.
