Why is this card good?
Vito turns lifegain into a wincon. His static ability is the whole point: every life point you gain drains an opponent for the same amount, so a card that "only gains 30 life" suddenly becomes a 30-point Drain Life at one of your rivals. Combined with his lifelink-granting activated ability, even a wide board or a single big swing can outright kill someone.
Where he shines: lifegain matters decks (Sorin, Karlov, Heliod-style payoffs), aristocrats shells with Blood Artist effects, and any deck running cards like Aetherflux Reservoir, Exquisite Blood, or Sanguine Bond. Exquisite Blood + Vito is an infinite loop — gain life, drain opponent, who loses life, which triggers Exquisite to gain you life, repeat — instantly killing the table.
He's also a strong support piece in any mono-black or Orzhov build that gains life incidentally.
Skip him if your deck doesn't actually gain meaningful life. Without payoffs he's a vanilla 1/4 — he punishes opponents, he doesn't generate value on his own.
