Why is this card good?
Riverglide Pathway // Lavaglide Pathway is a modal dual land: when you play it, you choose which side enters, and it always comes in untapped — but only ever taps for one of its two colors.
The upside is consistency without the downside of a tapland. Unlike checklands or temples, Pathways never enter tapped, which matters in faster Izzet decks (spellslinger, storm, tempo) where dropping an untapped land turn one or two keeps your curve smooth. They also dodge nonbasic hate that punishes "enters tapped" lands and play nicely with fetch-based or basic-heavy manabases.
The catch: it's a single-color source once it's down. In a typical 3-5 color Commander manabase you usually want lands that produce both colors freely, so Pathways are noticeably weaker than true duals, shocks, or even gates for fixing.
Run it in two-color Izzet (or as a budget pick) where untapped speed beats flexibility. Skip it in greedy multicolor decks or anything that wants double-pip fixing from each land.
