Wheel of Fortune

{2}{R}

Sorcery

LegalReserved List Salt 1.19Rank #559

Each player discards their hand, then draws seven cards.

Why is this card good?

Wheel of Fortune is one of the best red draw spells ever printed, and a staple in nearly any red deck that can afford the (steep) price tag. For three mana you refill to seven cards — an absurd rate that no other color matches. The key is asymmetry through context. You want to cast it when your hand is nearly empty and opponents are holding cards. That turns a "symmetrical" wheel into a massive personal advantage. It's premium in: - Storm/spellslinger decks (refuel mid-combo). - Aggressive red decks like Krenko or Wilson that dump their hand fast. - Group-hug-into-kill and Narset/Hullbreacher loops that deny opponents the draw. When NOT to play it: avoid it in slow, controlling, or value-grindy decks that hoard cards — you'll just hand opponents seven fresh answers and gas. Also skip it if your table runs reanimator or graveyard payoffs that love being forced to discard. If you play red and empty your hand, run it.
