Why is this card good?
Avacyn is a powerful but expensive defensive bomb. For eight mana you get an indestructible 8/8 flyer that makes your entire board immune to destruction — no Wrath of God, no targeted removal via destroy, no edicts dodging aside. Your lands survive Armageddon, your creatures laugh at board wipes, your enchantments stick around.
This shines in two main shells: mono-white Voltron/stax decks that want to lock the board and swing freely, and Armageddon/Cataclysm builds where you blow up the world but keep your own stuff. She also pairs beautifully with sacrifice-for-value engines, since "indestructible" doesn't stop you from sacrificing your own permanents.
Caveats: indestructible doesn't protect against exile, -X/-X, bounce, sacrifice effects, or board states changing — and modern Commander leans heavily on those. At eight mana she's a removal magnet that often eats a Swords or Path before doing work. Don't run her in fast combo decks or anything that can't protect or quickly leverage her; she's a top-end haymaker, not a value engine.
