Why is this card good?
Eldritch Evolution is one of green's best tutors-plus-cheat-into-play effects, and it's massively undervalued at rank #710.
The key: you sacrifice a creature, then fetch something with MV up to 2 higher and put it directly onto the battlefield. That's a discount tutor that skips the mana cost entirely. Sacrifice a 2-drop, grab a 4-mana bomb; sac a dork early for tempo. The sacrifice is also upside, not a tax.
Where it shines:
- Combo decks that need a specific piece (think Birthing Pod-style toolbox or assembling a creature combo).
- Aristocrats — the sacrifice triggers Blood Artist effects and feeds the engine.
- Token decks with expendable bodies to convert into haymakers.
- Any green deck wanting consistent access to a silver-bullet creature.
When not to play it: decks with few creatures, or where your creatures are too important to sacrifice. It's also card disadvantage (you lose two cards for one body), so value-grind decks without a payoff for sacrificing will feel the loss. You want a creature you're happy to lose.
