Why is this card good?
Elvish Spirit Guide is a "free" green ritual — you exile it from hand for a single at no mana cost, effectively a one-shot mana accelerant that doesn't take a card slot off the battlefield.
The key use is enabling explosive turn-one or combo turns. It powers out fast mana into commanders early, fuels storm-style green decks, or helps assemble combos a turn ahead. Because it's an instant-speed source from your hand, it also helps dodge sorcery-speed restrictions and can fix that one missing pip.
- Wants it: cEDH and high-power combo decks, green ritual/storm shells, decks that want to slam an early commander or accelerate big mana.
- Skip it in: value/midrange or grindy decks. As a 2/2 body for it's embarrassing, and a one-time rarely matters in slower games. You're spending a card for a single mana — only worth it when speed and explosiveness win the game.
