Why is this card good?

Nature's Claim is one of the most efficient artifact/enchantment removal spells green has access to, and that efficiency is exactly why it sees play. For a single green mana at instant speed, you destroy any artifact or enchantment — Mana Crypt, Rhystic Study, a problematic stax piece, an opposing combo enabler, or your own broken permanent in a pinch. The downside, giving the controller 4 life, is almost always irrelevant in a 40-life format with three opponents. Four life rarely changes the math when you're answering something that actually matters. This belongs in any green deck that values cheap interaction — combo decks, cEDH lists, and tempo-oriented builds that want to slot in answers without bending their curve. The low mana value also plays nicely with Yawgmoth-style strategies and decks that care about cheap spells. When to skip it: slower, life-total-sensitive matchups (lifegain/aggro pods), or grindy battlecruiser decks where you'd rather run repeatable answers like Krosan Grip or Beast Within instead.

    If the target artifact or enchantment is an illegal target by the time Nature's Claim tries to resolve, the spell doesn't resolve. No player gains 4 life. If the target is legal but not destroyed (most likely because it has indestructible), its controller does gain 4 life.
