Why is this card good?
Steel Overseer is a cornerstone of dedicated artifact-creature decks, providing exponential scaling for two mana. Each turn it ticks up your whole board, and because it pumps all artifact creatures (including itself), the buffs compound fast. By turn four or five you can have a genuinely threatening team.
This card shines in:
- Affinity/artifact aggro shells like Urtet, Sai, or Breya where you flood the board with Servos, Thopters, and Constructs.
- Counter-synergy decks that care about +1/+1 counters, especially with proliferate effects to double-dip.
- Any deck running cheap token-makers and artifact creatures to maximize the per-tap value.
The catch: it's slow and fragile. It does nothing the turn it enters, dies to any removal, and gives you zero value if your board isn't already wide with artifact creatures.
Don't play it outside of focused artifact-tribal builds — in a deck with only a handful of artifact creatures, it's a do-nothing target. It needs a critical mass to earn its slot.
