BuildCard details

The Commander

Vigilance

{1}, Sacrifice an artifact: Target creature you control gets +2/+0 until end of turn.

{X}, {T}, Exile an artifact card with mana value X from your graveyard: Create two tokens that are copies of the exiled card. Activate only as a sorcery.

Guide

Gameplan

Osgir turns your graveyard into a token factory: ramp into powerful artifacts, get them into the graveyard, then exile them with the second ability to make two copies each. You snowball artifact value—mana rocks, equipment, big artifact creatures, and bombs—into an overwhelming board, then close with sheer artifact mass or recurring ETBs. Early turns are spent ramping and setting up sacrifice/mill loops to fuel Osgir's activations.

Strengths

  • Doubles any artifact in your graveyard, including expensive bombs, for huge value
  • Strong artifact ramp lets you cast and reactivate Osgir's pricey X ability
  • Built-in recursion shrugs off targeted artifact removal and board wipes
  • Flexible token engine works with mana rocks, equipment, and creatures alike

Weaknesses

  • Token-creation ability is sorcery-speed and mana-hungry
  • Heavily reliant on the commander; gets taxed out under heavy commander-tax pressure
  • Vulnerable to graveyard hate that exiles your fuel
  • Can be slow to assemble; weak board states early before the engine comes online

Key Cards

  • Goblin Engineer — Tutors an artifact directly into the graveyard, setting up Osgir's copy ability immediately.
  • Wurmcoil Engine — Doubling it yields two huge lifelink/deathtouch bodies that each split into more tokens on death.
  • Myr Battlesphere — Copying it floods the board with Myr tokens plus two big bodies for explosive board presence.
  • Goblin Welder — Repeatedly cycles artifacts between battlefield and graveyard to feed Osgir cheaply.
  • Unwinding Clock — Untaps Osgir and rocks each turn, enabling extra activations and ramp.
  • Krark-Clan Ironworks — Sacrifices tokens for mana to refuel Osgir's expensive X ability.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and rocks (Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Mox Opal) to activate Osgir's X ability multiple times a turn, and include cheap mill/tutor like Goblin Engineer and Buried Ruin to set up targets. Build toward a dedicated combo such as Krark-Clan Ironworks + Sword of the Meek + Thopter Foundry for infinite tokens/mana, supported by Goblin Welder and Daretti, Scrap Savant for recursion. Tighten the mana base with artifact-friendly lands and protect Osgir with Lightning Greaves to keep the engine running.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Overwhelm with doubled artifact creatures like Wurmcoil Engine and Myr Battlesphere
  • ▸Equip and pump an attacker for lethal commander/Voltron damage
  • ▸Assemble an artifact sacrifice combo (Ironworks/Sword of the Meek style) for infinite value or mana
  • ▸Grind out value with recurring artifact ETBs and board-wide token swarms

Archetypes

  • Artifacts — Osgir's entire kit revolves around recurring and duplicating powerful artifacts.
  • Voltron — He can copy equipment and pump attackers with his sacrifice ability for commander damage.
  • Tokens — Copying creature artifacts and Myr/Thopter generators builds wide token boards.
  • Combo — Doubling artifacts like Sword of the Meek or Krark-Clan Ironworks enables sacrifice loops.
