Cathars' Crusade

{3}{W}{W}

Enchantment

Legal Salt 1.17Rank #554

Whenever a creature you control enters, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control.

Why is this card good?

Cathars' Crusade is a token deck's dream payoff. Each creature entering snowballs your whole board, so the more bodies you make, the more absurd the counters get. Drop a few tokens after this resolves and your team becomes lethal almost immediately. This shines in go-wide token strategies — commanders like Adeline, Resplendent Cathar, Jetmir, Krenko, Ghave, or any Selesnya/Mardu tokens build. It also pairs nastily with blink and populate, and counter synergies (proliferate, Hardened Scales-style payoffs) get extra value. With enough creatures, a single board wipe survivor or just one combat step ends games. The big downside: it can grind your turns to a crawl. Resolving dozens of triggers individually with multiple token-makers in play is a notorious "table groaner," so be ready to track counters efficiently. Don't play it in slim, creature-light decks, spellslinger, or any build that isn't actively flooding the board — it's purely a payoff and does nothing without bodies to enable it.

    The creature that entered and caused the ability to trigger will also get a +1/+1 counter, provided it's still on the battlefield when the ability resolves.
