Fleshbag Marauder

{2}{B}

Creature — Zombie Warrior

LegalBoard WipeRank #785

When this creature enters, each player sacrifices a creature of their choice.

3/1

Why is this card good?

Fleshbag Marauder is edict-on-a-body, and that flexibility is its strength. The forced sacrifice hits every player, so even in multiplayer you're reliably stripping a creature from each opponent—great against hexproof/protected commanders that targeted removal can't touch. The real payoff is recursion. In aristocrats decks (Meren, Teysa, Korvold), you blink or reanimate the Marauder to grind out edict after edict, while your own sacrificed creature feeds death triggers and value engines. It pairs beautifully with sac fodder like tokens, so you "lose" nothing meaningful while opponents bleed real threats. Build-arounds: any black deck running reanimation, blink, or token generators. Sheoldred, Meren, and Chatterfang-style boards love it. When to skip it: edicts are weak against go-wide token boards (they just sac a chump), and in decks without recursion it's a one-shot you'll rarely want over targeted removal. If you can't reliably sandbag fodder or rebuy it, the symmetry costs you your own best creature.
