Why is this card good?
Go for the Throat is one of the best premium creature removal spells in black, and it earns its slot in nearly any black deck.
For two mana at instant speed, you destroy basically any creature in the format. The "nonartifact" clause is a real but minor downside — in Commander you'll rarely whiff, since most threatening commanders and creatures are nonartifact. Unlike Doom Blade or Ultimate Price, it ignores color and indestructible-adjacent restrictions are minimal here.
It's a staple in any black removal package: control, midrange, aristocrats, reanimator — anything that wants cheap, efficient interaction to kill a problematic commander or blocker. The low cost means you can hold up mana and still develop, which matters in a format full of high-impact creatures.
When to skip it: if your meta is heavy on artifact creatures or you're in an artifact-matters environment where opponents lean on big robots/Sliver-style swarms, you might want Hero's Downfall or Infernal Grasp instead. Otherwise, run it.
