Why is this card good?
Grim Monolith is a cornerstone of fast, high-power Commander. For two mana it produces three colorless, netting +1 immediately and enabling explosive turn-one or turn-two starts. That ramp is the whole point: it accelerates you into commanders, big artifacts, or combo pieces well ahead of curve.
The catch — it doesn't untap normally, and the untap costs more than it produces — means it's pure ramp, not infinite mana on its own. But pair it with Power Artifact or Rings of Brighthearth and it generates unlimited colorless mana, which is why it's a staple in cEDH artifact and combo decks. It also fuels eggs/artifact storm shells and big mana strategies in any color.
Play it in dedicated combo, artifact, or fast-ramp decks (think Urza, Emry, or any cEDH list). Skip it in casual/battlecruiser pods: it's a Game Changer for a reason, the colorless mana is awkward in three-color "good stuff" piles, and it does nothing on its own past the early game.
