Why is this card good?
Tragic Slip is one of the cheapest unconditional kill spells in black, but its power lives entirely in the Morbid clause. For a single mana, you get a -13/-13 that kills almost anything regardless of indestructible — it doesn't say "destroy," so commanders with damage-prevention or indestructible tricks die anyway.
The catch is reliability. You need a creature to have died this turn, so it shines in decks already generating death triggers naturally:
- Aristocrats decks (Meren, Teysa, Korvold) with sac outlets that turn it on every turn.
- Token swarms trading creatures in combat before you cast it.
- Any deck running Viscera Seer, Carrion Feeder, or fetch-style sacrifice effects.
Don't lean on it in decks with low creature counts or no sac outlets — drawing it before a death means a pathetic -1/-1, which is essentially a dead card against a 7/7 commander.
It's a premium budget removal piece for sacrifice-themed lists, but mediocre filler anywhere else.
