Gameplan

Ith is a UW value/control commander who comes down cheap via Suspend 4 or hard-cast at seven. Each turn you attack with a creature, then tap Ith to untap it and erase all combat damage to and from it—letting you stack 'when this attacks' triggers risk-free while keeping a blocker back. You grind incremental advantage and protect key threats until you assemble a finisher.

Strengths

  • Repeatable, free fog effect that protects your best attacker every combat
  • Enables abusing attack triggers without losing the creature to blocks or damage
  • Suspend lets him hit the field for just WU, dodging some commander-tax math
  • Vigilance means Ith himself can attack and still untap your creature defensively

Weaknesses

  • Ability only affects one attacking creature per turn, so it's slow against go-wide boards
  • Doesn't protect against removal, board wipes, or non-combat damage
  • UW lacks ramp and card advantage relative to other colors
  • Suspend means a 4-turn delay and vulnerability to graveyard/exile hate before he resolves

  • Aurelia, the Warleader — Wait—out of color; instead pair with extra-combat and attack-trigger payoffs that Ith makes consequence-free.
  • Sun Titan — Recurs Ith if he dies and grinds value, a strong UW glue piece for the deck.
  • Brave the Sands — Gives your team vigilance so they can attack into Ith protection and still block.
  • Bident of Thassa — Turns your repeated safe attacks into a steady stream of card draw.
  • Smothering Tithe — Premier white ramp/card advantage to offset UW's color weaknesses.

Upgrade Path

Add efficient ramp and card draw (Smothering Tithe, Mystic Remora, signets) to fix UW's resource problems and deploy Ith and threats faster. Lean into a focused theme—either menacing attack-trigger creatures (Bident of Thassa, Coastal Piracy) or a Voltron suite with evasion and protection auras—so Ith's single-target ability always matters. Round out with strong UW interaction (Swords to Plowshares, Cyclonic Rift, counterspells) and a compact win combo to avoid grinding to a stall.
