Why is this card good?

Brash Taunter is a red staple for politics, damage redirection, and combo enablers. The indestructible body is the key: it survives board wipes, combat, and fights, then dumps all that damage onto an opponent's face. Pair it with Blasphemous Act or any "deal damage to all creatures" spell to nuke a table while pinging someone for a huge chunk. Its own fight ability lets you repeatedly poke for value or remove blockers while building a damage payoff. Who wants it: - Burn/Punisher decks (Torbran, Toralf) that scale damage redirection. - Decks running Pariah or Stuffy Doll-style redirect loops — Pariah on Brash Taunter means all damage to you bounces to an opponent. - Goblins and any red deck wanting a sticky, board-wipe-proof threat. When to skip it: It only ever hits one opponent, so it's weak in pure multiplayer racing where you need to pressure everyone. It's also slow without a damage source — alone it's just a {5} 1/1 fighter. Build around it or leave it home.

A creature can be dealt an amount of damage greater than its toughness. For example, if Brash Taunter is dealt 3 damage, its middle ability deals 3 damage, not 1, to the target opponent.

  • 2020-06-23

If your life total is brought to 0 or less at the same time that Brash Taunter is dealt damage, you lose the game before its middle ability goes on the stack.

  • 2020-06-23

If the target creature is an illegal target when Brash Taunter's last ability tries to resolve, the ability doesn't resolve. If Brash Taunter is no longer on the battlefield, the target creature won't deal or be dealt damage.
