Mana value3Rank#16,676
BuildCard details

The Commander

Trample, haste

Whenever an equipped creature you control other than Rhuk attacks or dies, you may attach all Equipment attached to that creature to Rhuk.

Guide

Gameplan

Suit up cheap creatures with powerful Equipment, then funnel all that gear onto Rhuk when those creatures attack or die, turning him into a trampling, hasty Voltron threat. You attack early and often, snowballing Equipment buffs while using sacrifice and aggressive attacks to consolidate gear onto your commander. Close games quickly with oversized commander damage before opponents stabilize.

Strengths

  • Built-in Equipment consolidation lets you avoid paying repeated equip costs by triggering off attacks and deaths
  • Haste and trample on a 3-mana commander means immediate, hard-to-block pressure
  • Mono-red gives access to cheap aggressive creatures, impulse draw, and fast Equipment recursion
  • Naturally synergizes with sacrifice outlets and token fodder to relocate gear instantly

Weaknesses

  • Heavily commander-dependent; losing Rhuk repeatedly cripples the whole strategy
  • Vulnerable to removal, board wipes, and equipment hate like Vandalblast in mono-red mirrors
  • Mono-red lacks reliable card advantage and recovery compared to multicolor decks
  • Voltron damage spread across one creature is easy to chump-block or fog without evasion backup

Key Cards

  • Sigarda's Aid — Lets you attach Equipment at instant speed and flash gear in, supercharging Rhuk's attack-trigger consolidation.
  • Embercleave — A game-ending Equipment that gives double strike and trample to push lethal commander damage in one swing.
  • Goldvein Pick — Cheap Treasure-generating Equipment that ramps and snowballs while feeding Rhuk's ability.
  • Hexgold Halberd — Thematic flexible Equipment that fits the gear-stacking plan and protects your attacker.
  • Fervor — Grants haste to your equipped attackers so they can immediately trigger and dump gear onto Rhuk.
  • Goblin Bombardment — A free sacrifice outlet to trigger death-based Equipment transfers and clear chump blockers.

Upgrade Path

Add efficient evasion and protection (Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves, Whispersilk Cloak) so Rhuk survives and connects reliably. Improve Equipment recursion and tutors (Steelshaper's Gift, Open the Armory analog Goblin Engineer, Stoneforge effects via colorless options) and lean into Treasure ramp to deploy gear faster. Round out with cheap haste-granting sacrifice fodder and protection from board wipes to keep the consolidation engine running.

  • Equipment Aggro — His ability rewards suiting up a wide board and attacking to consolidate buffs efficiently.
  • Aristocrats — Sacrifice outlets let you trigger the 'dies' clause to instantly move Equipment onto Rhuk.
