Why is this card good?

Talrand, Sky Summoner is the go-to commander for mono-blue spellslinger decks. He turns every cantrip, counterspell, and removal spell into a 2/2 flier, meaning your interaction doubles as a clock. A handful of cheap spells can flood the board with evasive Drakes shockingly fast. The key is that Talrand rewards you for things you'd do anyway — drawing cards, countering threats, bouncing creatures. Load up on cheap blue staples (Brainstorm, Ponder, counterspells) and you generate a wide, flying army without committing extra resources. He pairs beautifully with cost reducers and "copy your spell" effects like Twincast or Increasing Vengeance for explosive turns. Watch out, though: as a commander he's a magnet for removal, and he does nothing the turn he enters — you need to cast spells after he resolves. He's also fragile in stax-heavy or fast combo metas where pure Drake beatdown can't keep pace. Skip him if you want a control finisher that doesn't depend on a vulnerable 2/2 body sticking around.
