BuildCard details

The Commander

Daretti's power is equal to the greatest mana value among artifacts you control.

Whenever Daretti enters or attacks, choose target artifact card in your graveyard. You may sacrifice an artifact. If you do, return the chosen card to the battlefield.

Guide

Gameplan

Daretti is a mono-red artifact reanimator: flood the board with cheap artifacts, sacrifice them for value (treasures, fodder), and use Daretti's ETB/attack trigger to keep returning your biggest artifacts from the graveyard. You ramp into and recur expensive bombs while his power scales off your largest artifact's mana value, letting him hit hard or fuel reanimation loops every combat.

Strengths

  • Repeatable artifact reanimation from the command zone every time he attacks
  • Mono-red consistency and access to powerful artifact tutors, ramp, and rituals
  • Turns sacrifice 'downsides' into engines—Treasure tokens, fodder, and dies-triggers all feed him
  • Scales as a beater since his power equals your biggest artifact's mana value

Weaknesses

  • Needs an artifact to sacrifice each trigger, so empty boards stall the engine
  • Mono-red lacks card draw and struggles with non-creature, non-artifact threats
  • Vulnerable to graveyard hate that shuts off the reanimation plan
  • Daretti himself is fragile and removal-prone for a 5-mana commander you lean on heavily
  • Artifact wipes (Vandalblast, Bane of Progress) can devastate the whole strategy

Key Cards

  • Goblin Welder — Provides a second, faster artifact reanimation loop independent of combat, swapping junk for bombs.
  • Trash for Treasure — One-shot reanimation that pairs perfectly with sacrificing a Treasure to return a giant artifact.
  • Krark-Clan Ironworks — Sacrifices artifacts for mana to fuel both Daretti triggers and explosive artifact-based combos.
  • Wurmcoil Engine — A premium reanimation target whose two tokens give you fodder to sacrifice for the next loop.
  • Steel Hellkite — High mana value boosts Daretti's power and acts as repeatable board control after each recursion.
  • Feldon of the Third Path — Adds another recursion angle and synergizes with sacrificing the resulting tokens to Daretti.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and rituals (Mana Crypt, Jeska's Will, Dockside Extortionist) plus artifact tutors (Goblin Engineer, Inventors' Fair) to consistently fuel the engine. Build toward a dedicated combo finish—Krark-Clan Ironworks with Scrap Trawler or Myr Retriever loops into a payoff—and round out with protection like Lightning Greaves and a few stax pieces to slow opponents while you assemble it.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Recur and swing with massive artifact creatures like Wurmcoil Engine or Steel Hellkite
  • ▸Loop artifacts with Goblin Welder/KCI to generate infinite or lethal value
  • ▸Combo kills via Krark-Clan Ironworks plus a payoff like Aetherflux Reservoir or pinger
  • ▸Daretti himself as a large commander beater dealing commander damage

Archetypes

  • Artifact Reanimator — His attack/ETB trigger continuously returns artifacts from the yard while sacrificing fodder.
  • Aristocrats/Sacrifice — Sacrificing artifacts every turn rewards dies-triggers, Treasures, and value engines.
  • Big Mana Combo — KCI, Welder, and ritual artifacts enable mana-generating loops to deploy or recur game-enders.
  • Artifact Voltron — Daretti's power scaling off your biggest artifact lets him close games as a commander beater.
