BuildCard details

The Commander

Start your engines! (If you have no speed, it starts at 1. It increases once on each of your turns when an opponent loses life. Max speed is 4.)

Whenever you attack, Far Fortune deals 1 damage to each opponent.

Max speed — If a source you control would deal damage to an opponent or a permanent an opponent controls, it deals that much damage plus 1 instead.

Guide

Gameplan

Far Fortune wants to deal incremental damage early to ramp your speed to max, then turn every damage source into a beefed-up cannon. You attack to chip life, trigger speed gains, and snowball into burn spells and creatures that all hit for +1. The deck closes by combining direct damage, a wide or tall board, and the max-speed multiplier to burn the table down fast.

Strengths

  • Attack trigger pings every opponent, advancing your speed without combat damage and chipping at three life totals at once
  • At max speed every source gets +1, supercharging burn spells, pingers, and combat damage simultaneously
  • Aggressive BR aligns with cheap removal, burn, and recursion for a resilient curve
  • Only 4 mana to cast and easy to rebuild, so commander damage and pings stay reliable

Weaknesses

  • Needs to deal damage to ramp speed; against fog, lifegain, or stalled boards the engine sputters
  • Far Fortune is a small body that dies to most removal and chump blocks easily
  • No card-advantage engine baked in—can run out of gas in longer games
  • Multiplayer politics: poking everyone paints a target and invites retaliation

Key Cards

  • Torbran, Thane of Red Fell — Stacks another +2 on red damage atop your max-speed bonus, making every burn spell and ping lethal.
  • Purphoros, God of the Forge — Turns token floods into damage to each opponent, ramping speed and benefiting from the +1 buff.
  • Bitter Reunion — Cheap card draw plus haste enabler that fits the aggressive, damage-forward plan.
  • Fervor — Haste lets new threats attack immediately to trigger Far Fortune's ping and keep speed climbing.
  • City on Fire — Triples your damage, combining with max speed and Torbran for absurd burn output.
  • Impact Tremors — Each creature ETB pings every opponent, advancing speed and stacking the +1 bonus.

Upgrade Path

Add damage multipliers like Torbran, City on Fire, and Fiery Emancipation to stack with max speed for one-shot burn turns. Improve consistency with card draw (Faithless Looting, Light Up the Stage, Theater of Horrors) and cheap interaction so you reach max speed and keep the gas flowing. Tighten the curve and add haste enablers so attack triggers come online a turn earlier.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Repeated direct damage from burn spells and pingers amplified by max speed and Torbran
  • ▸Wide creature attacks each dealing +1 combat damage while the attack trigger drains everyone
  • ▸Aristocrat drain loops or Purphoros triggers pinging all opponents to zero
  • ▸Commander damage backed by combat buffs and evasion

Archetypes

  • Burn / Spellslinger — Max speed adds +1 to every burn spell, turning Lightning Bolt-style cards into reliable multi-target finishers.
  • Aristocrats — Drain effects like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat all gain +1 damage and advance your speed.
  • Go-Wide Tokens — Purphoros and Impact Tremors convert token swarms into table-wide damage that ramps speed instantly.
  • Aggro / Voltron — Far Fortune's attack ping plus the max-speed combat buff makes a focused beatdown plan brutal.
