The Commander

Whenever you copy a spell, up to one target opponent may also copy that spell. They may choose new targets for that copy.

Gameplan
Parnesse is a Grixis spellslinger that taxes opponents 4 life to interact with you while turning your spell-copy effects into a value engine. Develop mana and copy artifacts/payoffs, then chain copied X-spells, Twincast-style effects, and burn to out-value the table or assemble a copy-based combo for the kill.
Strengths
- Built-in protection: every targeted removal or counter against you or your stuff costs an opponent 4 life or gets countered.
- Grixis gives the best instant/sorcery and copy support in the format.
- Copy doubling fuels storm-y, value-dense turns and political bargaining via the second ability.
- Self-protection lets you commander-damage or voltron with copied buffs if desired.
Weaknesses
- The copy ability is mandatory-friendly to opponents (they get a free copy of your good spell), which can backfire.
- Board wipes, edicts, and non-targeted effects bypass the tax entirely.
- Three colors with a copy theme means a sometimes-clunky, spell-heavy mana base.
- Removing Parnesse strips your protection and your copy payoff in one shot.

Round out with efficient Grixis interaction—Mystic Confluence, Cyclonic Rift, Dockside—to leverage the protection tax while you set up.
