The Commander

Whenever a commander you control deals combat damage to an opponent, it deals that much damage to each other opponent.

Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)

Guide

Gameplan

Pair Kediss with another Partner commander, suit that partner up as a Voltron threat, and connect once for lethal — combat damage to one opponent is mirrored to every other opponent. You ramp into your partner, protect it with evasion and combat tricks, then swing for a number that kills all three opponents simultaneously.

Strengths

  • Turns a single connecting attack into a multiplayer kill, ending games out of nowhere
  • Cheap (CMV 2) and pairs with any Partner commander, enabling flexible color identities
  • Synergizes with double strike, infect, and damage doublers for explosive, often one-shot finishes
  • Punishes pillow-fort/group-slug strategies by spreading damage table-wide

Weaknesses

  • Kediss does nothing on its own — you depend on a partner connecting in combat
  • Vulnerable to fogs, board wipes, and single-target removal on your attacker
  • Mono-red color identity in Kediss limits card pool unless paired with another color via partner
  • Damage is dealt to each OTHER opponent, not split — overkill on the attacked player can be inefficient

Key Cards

  • Tana, the Bloodsower — Saproling tokens build a wide board while she connects to spread damage and snowball.
  • Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh — A free 0-cost commander that becomes a cheap Voltron target while leaving mana for protection and pumps.
  • Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist — Moves Auras and Equipment freely onto your attacker, accelerating a Voltron kill that Kediss mirrors.
  • Embercleave — Gives double strike and +X/+X to push a connecting hit into table-wide lethal.
  • Fireshrieker — Double strike effectively doubles the spread damage to every opponent in one swing.
  • Rancor — Recurring trample and evasion that keeps your partner connecting for the Kediss multiplier.

Upgrade Path

Pick a partner that wants combat damage and gives access to strong colors — Tana for tokens or Rograkh/Ardenn for low-cost Voltron and free Aura movement. Stack evasion (Rogue's Passage, Whispersilk Cloak), protection (Lightning Greaves, Heroic Intervention), and damage multipliers (Embercleave, Berserkers' Onslaught) so one connection ends the game. Add fast mana and tutors like Sol Ring, Steelshaper's Gift, and Open the Armory to assemble the kill consistently.

Archetypes

  • Voltron — Load a Partner commander with Equipment/Auras and connect once for table-wide lethal.
  • Combo — Double strike plus damage doublers on a connected hit creates a deterministic multiplayer kill.
