BuildCard details

The Commander

Vigilance, indestructible

Bushido 5 (Whenever this creature blocks or becomes blocked, it gets +5/+5 until end of turn.)

Guide

Gameplan

Konda is a 7-mana mono-white voltron beater who is naturally indestructible with vigilance, so he attacks every turn while staying back to block. Cheat him out or ramp into him, suit him up with equipment and protection, and connect for lethal commander damage while his Bushido makes combat math a nightmare.

Strengths

  • Indestructible body dodges most removal and board wipes
  • Vigilance lets him attack and defend simultaneously
  • Bushido 5 wins nearly any combat and deters chump attacks
  • Mono-white access to the best protection and equipment package

Weaknesses

  • Seven mana is steep and offers no immediate board impact
  • Vulnerable to exile, bounce, -X/-X, and edict effects despite indestructibility
  • No evasion built in, so chump blockers and fliers stall him
  • Mono-white struggles with card draw and explosive ramp

Key Cards

  • Swiftfoot Boots — Hexproof plus haste lets Konda swing the turn he lands and dodges targeted removal.
  • Lightning Greaves — Shroud and haste protect him and enable immediate aggression off the equip.
  • Sword of Fire and Ice — Adds evasion, card advantage, and damage that stacks with his indestructible voltron plan.
  • Whispersilk Cloak — Unblockable turns Konda into a guaranteed commander-damage clock.
  • Karmic Guide — One of many white reanimation/blink pieces to cheat the seven-drop into play early.

Upgrade Path

Lean into protection and evasion equipment (Swords, Whispersilk Cloak, Darksteel Plate is redundant but Robe of the Archmagi-style buffs help) plus cheap reanimation like Reveillark and Sun Titan to mitigate his cost. Add white's best ramp—Smothering Tithe, Land Tax, Sol Ring, mana rocks—and taxing stax pieces such as Thalia, Drannith Magistrate, and Archon of Emeria to protect your lead. Tutors like Steelshaper's Gift and Stoneforge Mystic make the voltron package far more consistent.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Connect with an equipped Konda for 21 commander damage
  • ▸Buff and swing wide with white token/anthem support
  • ▸Lock the board with stax while Konda grinds out incremental damage

Archetypes

  • Voltron — Indestructibility and vigilance make him the ideal equipment carrier for one-shot commander damage.
  • Stax — Mono-white hatebears and taxing pieces let Konda dominate slowed-down boards as an unkillable threat.
  • Blink/Reanimator — White recursion lets you cheat his high cost or rebuy him after exile effects.
  • Aggro — His resilient body anchors a go-wide white weenie shell that pressures the table.
