BuildCard details

The Commander

Lifelink

Dance — At the beginning of your end step, each player may discard a card. Each player who discarded a card this way draws a card. If a creature card was discarded this way, you create a 1/2 white Moogle creature token with lifelink. Then if a noncreature card was discarded this way, put a +1/+1 counter on each Moogle you control.

Guide

Gameplan

Mog turns your end step into a group looting engine that quietly builds a wide board of lifelinking Moogles. You loot away dead cards to dig for action while accumulating tokens (from discarded creatures) and +1/+1 counters (from discarded noncreatures), then overrun the table with a buffed, lifelinking go-wide army or convert discards into madness, reanimation, and graveyard value.

Strengths

  • Repeatable card filtering for the whole table that benefits you most by building a board
  • Generates lifelinking tokens that gain massive life as your army grows
  • Counters from noncreature discards make tokens hit hard and survive sweepers better than expected
  • Synergizes with madness, reanimator, and graveyard-matters cards since you choose what to pitch

Weaknesses

  • Symmetrical discard/draw can refuel opponents, including combo and graveyard decks
  • Board-centric strategy is vulnerable to wraths, and Mog only triggers on your end step
  • Three-mana commander with no evasion or protection on its own
  • Needs Mog plus a payoff (anthem/overrun) to actually close, so it can stall without finishers

Key Cards

  • Anointed Procession — Doubles every Moogle token Mog creates, snowballing your board and lifegain.
  • Cathars' Crusade — Each token entering pumps your whole team, multiplying the value of Mog's Moogle creation.
  • Skullclamp — Turns your steady stream of 1/2 Moogles into a relentless card-draw engine.
  • Anduin Wrynn — Lifegain payoff and another way to leverage your lifelinking, token-heavy board.
  • Sun Titan — You can pitch it to Mog and reanimate it, or recur the cheap permanents you discard.

Upgrade Path

Add token doublers (Anointed Procession, Mondrak), anthems (Cathars' Crusade, Intangible Virtue) and a hard overrun finisher to convert your board faster. Lean into the discard with madness payoffs and cheap reanimation (Faithless Looting effects, Sun Titan, Reveillark) so the symmetrical loot benefits you most. Tighten the mana with fast rocks (Sol Ring, Arcane Signet), add protection like Heroic Intervention, and include Skullclamp/Welcoming Vampire for card advantage your opponents can't share.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Overrun the table with a wide, counter-pumped Moogle army (Craterhoof Behemoth / Overwhelming Stampede)
  • ▸Drain opponents via aristocrats payoffs like Blood Artist or Zulaport Cutthroat
  • ▸Lifegain-fueled finishers such as Aetherflux Reservoir or Felidar Sovereign
  • ▸Beat down with buffed lifelinking creatures while staying out of burn range

Archetypes

  • Tokens — Mog passively makes lifelinking Moogles every turn that anthems and doublers turn into a lethal swarm.
  • Aristocrats — A constant supply of expendable Moogle tokens fuels sacrifice and drain payoffs.
  • Reanimator — The discard outlet lets you ditch fatties to Mog and bring them back cheaply.
  • Lifegain Matters — Lifelink across the board pairs with lifegain payoffs and value engines.
