The Commander

Flying

The first non-Lemur creature spell with flying you cast during each of your turns costs {1} less to cast.

Whenever another creature you control with flying enters, Momo gets +1/+1 until end of turn.

Guide

Gameplan

Momo is a one-drop mono-white flyers aggro/go-wide commander. You flood the board with evasive creatures, get repeatable cost reduction on your best flying threats, and use anthems and equipment to push lethal damage through the air while Momo grows each combat.

Strengths

  • Cheap one-mana commander that comes down turn one and pressures immediately
  • Mono-white gives access to the format's best anthems and go-wide payoffs
  • Flying evasion makes combat damage hard to block
  • Cost reduction smooths out curve and helps deploy a wide flying board fast

Weaknesses

  • Mono-white means no card draw or ramp engines, leading to running out of gas
  • Heavily reliant on the battlefield; vulnerable to board wipes
  • Single-color decks struggle to interact with combos and resolved problem permanents
  • Momo's buff is only until end of turn, so it doesn't permanently snowball

Key Cards

  • Adeline, Resplendent Cathar — Generates flying-adjacent token pressure and rewards going wide alongside your evasive threats.
  • Skullclamp — Mono-white's premier card-draw engine, turning cheap X/1 flyers into a steady stream of cards.
  • Smothering Tithe — The best white ramp/advantage engine to fuel deploying multiple flyers each turn.
  • Archetype of Imagination — Gives your whole team flying, instantly converting a go-wide board into evasive lethal.
  • Esper Sentinel — Cheap flyer-adjacent body that draws cards and helps refill the mono-white deck's empty hand.
  • Akroma, Angel of Wrath — A hard-to-block flying haymaker that benefits from Momo's repeatable cost reduction.

Upgrade Path

Add the strongest white card-advantage and ramp pieces (Smothering Tithe, Esper Sentinel, Skullclamp, Welcoming Vampire) to fix mono-white's gas problems, and lean into protection like Flawless Maneuver and Teferi's Protection to survive board wipes. Tighten the curve with efficient flyers and a couple of anthem-based finishers (Intangible Virtue, Anointed Procession with tokens) so one good turn ends the game.

Core Cards

Win Conditions

  • ▸Wide flying board pumped by anthems for a lethal alpha strike
  • ▸Voltron-style Momo buffed by flyers entering plus equipment/auras
  • ▸Mass evasion effects like Archetype of Imagination converting tokens into damage

Archetypes

  • Flyers Aggro — Momo directly rewards casting and resolving flying creatures, attacking through the air.
  • Tokens / Go-Wide — White token makers flood the board and turn anthems into lethal alpha strikes.
  • Aristocrats-lite — Skullclamp plus cheap flyers can pivot into a sacrifice-for-value subtheme.
