The Commander

Myojin of Cryptic Dreams enters with an indestructible counter on it if you cast it from your hand.

Remove an indestructible counter from Myojin of Cryptic Dreams: Copy target permanent spell you control three times. (The copies become tokens.)

Guide

Gameplan

Ramp into your 8-mana Spirit, then use its one indestructible counter to copy a high-impact permanent spell three times for a massive board or value swing. You spend the early game ramping and protecting yourself, then build around a single explosive copy trigger and grind value from there with the Myojin sitting on the board.

Strengths

  • Copies any permanent spell (creature, artifact, enchantment, planeswalker) three times for one activation
  • Mono-blue gives full access to counterspells, card draw, and ramp rocks
  • Can generate four total copies of a bomb permanent for a game-ending tempo swing
  • Enters indestructible, surviving most board wipes once it lands

Weaknesses

  • The counter is single-use and only granted when cast from hand, so it's a one-shot effect
  • Eight mana is steep and the commander does nothing the turn it lands without follow-up
  • Removal that doesn't destroy (bounce, exile, -X/-X) easily handles the indestructible body
  • Mono-blue lacks efficient creature removal and struggles against fast aggro
  • Reliant on drawing a high-value permanent spell to copy or the ability fizzles

Upgrade Path

Push the ramp suite hard—Mana Vault, Mana Crypt, Grim Monolith, and Thran Dynamo—so you can deploy Myojin plus a big copy target in the same turn. Add resilient copy targets that win on resolution and stack additional copy effects like Rite of Replication and Spark Double, while tightening interaction with Fierce Guardianship, Force of Negation, and Pact of Negation. Finally, include reanimation or recursion (Snapcaster-style value or flicker like Ghostly Flicker) to reuse Myojin and reset its counter via blink-and-recast lines.
