BuildCard details

The Commander

Each creature you control has "{T}: Add one mana of any of this creature's colors. Spend this mana only to activate an ability of a creature. Activate only if this creature has another activated ability."

{W}{U}{B}{R}{G}, {T}: Mill five cards. Put all creature cards with activated abilities that aren't mana abilities from among the milled cards into your hand.

Guide

Gameplan

Tazri turns every creature with an activated ability into a mana dork that fuels OTHER creatures' abilities, letting you chain activations into a powerful engine. You build a board of cheap creatures with relevant tap/activated abilities, then sink the converted mana into combos or value loops, while Tazri's own WUBRG ability refills your hand with more activated-ability creatures. The deck wins by assembling an infinite mana or activation loop, or by grinding incremental advantage until you out-activate everyone.

Strengths

  • Five-color identity means access to every combo piece and the best fixing in the game.
  • Tazri's mana ability effectively gives haste-like value by letting creatures tap for mana the turn they would otherwise sit idle.
  • Self-refilling card advantage from the WUBRG mill ability keeps the engine fueled.
  • Excellent at enabling infinite combos with creatures that have activated abilities.

Weaknesses

  • Heavily creature- and board-reliant; vulnerable to board wipes that collapse the whole engine.
  • The mana can only be spent on creature activated abilities, so it doesn't help cast spells or develop the board directly.
  • Five-color manabase is expensive and prone to color-screw without strong fixing.
  • Tazri's own activation costs all five colors plus a tap, which can be hard to assemble early.

Key Cards

  • Devoted Druid — Untaps itself for mana and combos with untap-payoffs to generate infinite activations Tazri can redirect.
  • Walking Ballista — A creature with an activated ability that becomes a wincon once you feed it infinite mana via Tazri's network.
  • Pili-Pala — Combos with mana-doublers and Tazri-style activation to produce infinite colored mana for creature abilities.
  • Heliod, Sun-Crowned — Lifelink plus its activated counter ability pairs with Walking Ballista and many activated-ability creatures.
  • Birthing Pod — Tutors up the exact activated-ability creature you need to complete a combo or engine.
  • Cabal Coffers — Helps ramp into Tazri's demanding WUBRG-and-tap activation cost.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and premium fixing (Mana Crypt, dual lands, fetchlands) to support both casting and Tazri's WUBRG activation. Prioritize compact two- and three-card infinite combos built around activated-ability creatures (Devoted Druid + Swift Reconfiguration, Pili-Pala + Grand Architect, Heliod + Ballista) and tutors like Birthing Pod, Eldritch Evolution, and Demonic Tutor to find them. Round out with protection (Heroic Intervention, Teferi's Protection) so a single board wipe doesn't dismantle your engine.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Infinite mana into Walking Ballista or other repeatable damage outlet.
  • ▸Assembling an infinite activation loop (e.g. untap + sacrifice engines) for arbitrary value.
  • ▸Grinding incremental card and board advantage until you overwhelm with creature abilities.
  • ▸Combat finish once the board snowballs out of control.

Archetypes

  • Combo — The mana-redirection ability is purpose-built to fuel infinite activated-ability loops like Devoted Druid or Walking Ballista lines.
  • Toolbox Midrange — Five colors plus self-mill recursion lets you assemble a creature-based value engine with answers for any situation.
  • Aristocrats — Sacrifice-outlet and recursion creatures with activated abilities synergize with Tazri's mana to grind out loops.
  • Lands/Ramp — Tazri demands heavy fixing, naturally pushing the deck toward ramp packages that double as combo enablers.
