The Dalek Emperor

BuildCard details

The Commander

Affinity for Daleks (This spell costs {1} less to cast for each Dalek you control.)

Other Daleks you control have haste.

At the beginning of combat on your turn, each opponent faces a villainous choice — That player sacrifices a creature of their choice, or you create a 3/3 black Dalek artifact creature token with menace.

Guide

Gameplan

Build a wide army of Dalek artifact creatures, cheat out the Emperor cheaply via Affinity, and use the combat-trigger villainous choice to either grind opponents' boards or flood your own with hasty 3/3 menace tokens. You win by attacking with a swarm or converting your token army into damage through aristocrats payoffs.

Strengths

  • Affinity for Daleks lets the Emperor land early and even recast cheaply after removal
  • Every combat is pure value: you either strip an opponent's blocker/key creature or net a 3/3 menace token
  • Built-in haste anthem for all your other Daleks turns fresh tokens into immediate damage
  • Plays well as both go-wide tokens and aristocrats, with strong artifact synergy in Rakdos

Weaknesses

  • Seven base mana value means it can be clunky if you have no Daleks to discount it
  • Board wipes are devastating since the strategy is creature-density dependent
  • No evasion or protection on the Emperor itself; it's a removal magnet
  • Villainous choice often lets opponents sacrifice their worst creature, so the punishment is soft against token decks

Key Cards

  • Skullclamp — Turns your endless stream of 3/3 (and dying) Daleks into a relentless card-draw engine.
  • Pitiless Plunderer — Each Dalek that dies makes Treasure, fueling more casts and aristocrats loops.
  • Bastion of Remembrance — Converts every sacrificed and dying Dalek into guaranteed direct damage across the table.
  • Mayhem Devil — Pings opponents off every sacrifice and Treasure spent, a premier Rakdos aristocrats payoff.
  • Goblin Bombardment — A free sac outlet that pivots your token army into reach-based reach damage and combo potential.
  • Anointed Procession — Doubles every Dalek token the Emperor makes, snowballing your board fast.

Upgrade Path

Add more free sacrifice outlets (Viscera Seer, Carrion Feeder) and death payoffs (Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat) to make every Dalek that dies count. Improve mana with Treasure generators and fast rocks so the Emperor reliably hits the table by turn four or five, and include token doublers plus a Dictate of Erebos-style edict to weaponize the board. For a higher ceiling, lean into artifact recursion and combo finishes like Goblin Bombardment with a free sacrifice loop.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Swarm of hasty menace Daleks attacking through depleted blockers
  • ▸Aristocrats drain via Bastion of Remembrance, Blood Artist, and Zulaport Cutthroat
  • ▸Mayhem Devil / Goblin Bombardment pinging the table out through sacrifice loops
  • ▸Recurring Treasure and token engines overwhelming opponents over a few combats

Archetypes

  • Tokens — The combat trigger and Dalek synergies pump out hasty 3/3 menace bodies every turn for a go-wide assault.
  • Aristocrats — Free and forced sacrifices feed death-triggered drain and damage payoffs in Rakdos colors.
  • Artifacts — Daleks are artifact creatures, enabling Affinity discounts and artifact-matters support like Treasures and metalcraft.
  • Stax/Pressure — The villainous choice repeatedly taxes opponents' boards, eroding defenses while you build yours.
