Shineshadow Snarl

Land

LegalRank #420

As this land enters, you may reveal a Plains or Swamp card from your hand. If you don't, this land enters tapped.

{T}: Add {W} or {B}.

Why is this card good?

Shineshadow Snarl is a quietly excellent dual land for any Orzhov (WB) deck. Reveal lands (the "Snarl" cycle) sit comfortably between painlands and the slower bounce/tapland options: they enter untapped almost always, since by mid-game you'll reliably have a Plains or Swamp in hand to reveal, and they cause you zero life loss. The catch is the basic-typed requirement. These shine in decks with a healthy basic count or plenty of Plains/Swamp-typed duals (shocks, triomes, Godless Shrine, etc.). In a heavy nonbasic, fetch-light manabase, you'll find them entering tapped more often than you'd like. Want it in: any two-color Orzhov commander deck — aristocrats (Teysa, Yawgmoth-adjacent splashes), lifegain/drain, tokens, or budget builds wanting untapped fixing without painland damage. Don't bother if: your manabase already leans on fetchlands plus shocks/triomes, where the Snarl is redundant and strictly worse than a true dual. Also skip in mono-color decks. Solid, unflashy fixing.
