At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Kuro unless you pay .
Pay 1 life: Target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.
Kuro is a mono-black removal engine that turns your life total into a weapon, shrinking and killing creatures with repeatable -1/-1 effects. Ramp into the 9-mana body, keep four black floating each upkeep, and grind opponents' boards into dust while gaining or recouping life. Close games with Kuro-fueled wipes, life-payment combos, or a backup beatdown/drain plan.
Prioritize black-mana doublers (Cabal Coffers, Nirkana Revenant, Crypt Ghast, Magus of the Coffers) and rituals so you never lose Kuro to its upkeep and can activate its ability dozens of times. Add lifegain anchors (Whip of Erebos, Bloodletter of Aclazotz, Vito) plus the Exquisite Blood/Sanguine Bond and Aetherflux packages to convert life management into wins. Round out with fast tutors (Demonic/Vampiric Tutor), reanimation (Reanimate, Animate Dead) to cheat Kuro out, and a big-mana finisher like Torment of Hailfire.
