BuildCard details

The Commander

Sneak {2}{G}{G} (You may cast this spell for {2}{G}{G} if you also return an unblocked attacker you control to hand during the declare blockers step. He enters tapped and attacking.)

Whenever Michelangelo deals combat damage to a player, you may put a creature card and/or a land card from your hand onto the battlefield.

Guide

Gameplan

Get Michelangelo connecting in combat as fast as possible, then use his damage trigger to slam fatties and extra lands from hand for free. The Sneak ability lets you 'flicker' him in for a fresh attack via another unblocked attacker, chaining hits and explosive board states. You win by snowballing a huge green board and overwhelming the table.

Strengths

  • Mono-green ramp and big creatures let you reliably build a dominant board after one or two connects
  • Sneak gives a built-in way to re-deploy him and dodge removal or repeat the trigger
  • Cheating both a creature AND a land each hit accelerates mana while developing threats
  • Cheap commander (MV 4) that recasts easily and impacts the board immediately

Weaknesses

  • Trigger requires combat damage, so chump blockers, fog, and deathtouch shut him down
  • Single-color means no interaction outside green—weak to counterspells and graceful removal
  • Relies on having fat creatures/lands in hand; bricks if you've dumped your hand
  • No evasion natively, so he needs trample, menace, or unblockable enablers to connect

Key Cards

  • Rogue's Passage — Makes Michelangelo unblockable to guarantee the damage trigger fires.
  • Nylea's Colossus — Doubles his combat damage but, more importantly, pumps your evasive attackers for big swings.
  • Garruk's Uprising — Gives trample and draws cards whenever your fatties enter, fueling the gas you cheat in.
  • Heroic Intervention — Protects your snowballing board and Michelangelo from wraths and targeted removal.
  • Cultivate — Ensures you always have a land in hand to drop off the trigger while ramping.
  • Greaves and Boots (Lightning Greaves) — Haste lets a freshly recast Michelangelo attack immediately and dodge sorcery-speed removal.

Upgrade Path

Add consistent evasion (Rogue's Passage, Whispersilk Cloak, Spinerock Knoll-style enablers) so the trigger fires every turn, and protection like Heroic Intervention and Lightning Greaves to keep him alive. Lean into high-impact creatures worth cheating in—Craterhoof Behemoth, Vorinclex, Avenger of Zendikar—and tutors like Worldly Tutor to set up the top of your library. Tighten the curve with fast ramp (Sol Ring, Three Visits, Nature's Lore) so you're connecting and cheating turn three or four.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Overwhelm the table with an oversized board of cheated-in fatties and trample damage
  • ▸Connect repeatedly with evasion to flood the battlefield faster than opponents can answer
  • ▸Drop a haymaker finisher like Craterhoof Behemoth or End-Raze Forerunners off the trigger

Archetypes

  • Big Green Stompy — His trigger cheats expensive creatures into play, rewarding a deck packed with huge threats.
  • Ramp/Cheat-Into-Play — Free lands per hit plus creature drops snowball mana and board presence quickly.
  • Voltron-Aggro — Pumping and making him unblockable turns each connect into a free explosive turn.
