BuildCard details

The Commander

First strike, forestwalk, vigilance (This creature deals combat damage before creatures without first strike, it can't be blocked as long as defending player controls a Forest, and attacking doesn't cause this creature to tap.)

Guide

Gameplan

Mirri is a mono-green Voltron commander: suit her up with auras and equipment, swing for commander damage with first strike and vigilance, then leverage her static keywords to attack safely while still blocking. Early turns ramp into green's powerful enchantments, then snowball Mirri into a one-card army that closes games over a few combats.

Strengths

  • Vigilance lets her attack and defend in the same turn, ideal for Voltron
  • First strike makes her hard to kill in combat and good for picking off blockers
  • Forestwalk gives free evasion against green-heavy tables
  • Cheap 3-mana body gets going fast and recasts affordably

Weaknesses

  • Mono-green has poor interaction—few counterspells or cheap removal
  • Heavily reliant on Mirri; targeted removal and board wipes set you back
  • Forestwalk is useless against non-green opponents
  • No card advantage engine baked into the commander

Key Cards

  • Shadowspear — Grants trample and lifelink while stripping hexproof/indestructible from blockers.
  • Rancor — Recurring trample-and-power aura that comes back when Mirri dies, dodging removal value loss.
  • Swiftfoot Boots — Hexproof and haste protect your Voltron investment from spot removal.
  • The Ozolith — Banks counters so a wiped or bounced Mirri returns just as threatening.
  • Heroic Intervention — Mono-green's best protection against board wipes and targeted removal.
  • Beast Within — Flexible green removal for any problematic permanent.

Upgrade Path

Add trample sources (Shadowspear, Rancor, Loxodon Warhammer) so damage isn't chumped, and load up on protection like Heroic Intervention, Snakeskin Veil, and Swiftfoot Boots to survive removal. Improve ramp with Sol Ring, mana dorks, and Three Visits, and add green card advantage like Sylvan Library and Beast Whisperer to refuel after wipes.

Win Conditions

  • ▸21 commander damage via a buffed Mirri
  • ▸Beating down with trample-enabled Voltron swings
  • ▸Overrun-style finishers pushing a wide board through

Archetypes

  • Voltron — Her evasion and combat keywords make her an efficient carrier for auras and equipment.
  • Stompy/Aggro — Cheap green threats and pump spells let her lead a beatdown plan.
  • +1/+1 Counters — Vigilance and first strike let her safely grow with counter synergies and persistent bonuses.
